Der amerikanische Standardpanzer "Sherman" war den deutschen Kampfpanzern im 2.Weltkrieg unterlegen. Der M26 sollte diesen Nachteil wettmachen. Er kam im Frühjahr 1945 in die Truppe. Bei Kriegsende Produktion eingestellt, deshalb heute ein sehr seltenes Exemplar.

The American standard tank "Sherman" was inferior to the German battle tanks in World War II. The M26 was intended to make up for this disadvantage. It entered the army in spring 1945. Production stopped at the end of the war, so it is a very rare example today.
