1. Eckel-Spillman Cottage Marker

Inscription. Late Greek Revival style cottage built for William Augustus Eckel (1857-1906), partner in firm of Watson & Eckel, ship chandlers. Purchased in 1919 by John Spillman (1871-1951), photographer and proprietor of The Camera Shop; and wife, Lillian Snipes (1877-1959), native of Anderson County, SC. Cottage remained in family until 1980. The structure was moved east across North 7th Street to the present location c. 1991.
