Inscription. In 1890, local families founded a Church of Christ that met in the Lively School on present-day Britain Rd. Taking the name South Delaware Church of Christ, the congregation built a sanctuary at the southeast corner of S. Delaware and First Streets on a lot donated by the town's founders in 1903. The growing church built a two-story brick building at the same location in 1929. Membership continued to increase. In 1972, the church consolidated with the East Side Church of Christ, an offshoot of the South Delaware congregation, to form the South MacArthur Church of Christ. Members constructed a new facility at the southwest corner of Shady Grove Rd. and MacArthur Blvd.

Erected by City of Irving.
