Inscription.  

An authentic hand-hewn cabin, dating back to the 1780s, was originally built on the Welles farm about 9 miles south of this site. It was donated and moved to the French Azilum in 1962 by the Welles family of Wyalusing. The roof and floor have been replaced. The windows came from the old Troy Academy in Troy, PA.
