1. Hickok Mansion Marker
Inscription. Completed in 1904 for William O. Hickok III and his wife, Avis, this Georgian-Revival landmark is creatively blended with its residential and commercial surroundings, W.O. Hickock III was the grandson of the elder W.O. Hickok who founded the W.O. Hickok Manufacturing Company in 1844, the oldest surviving enterprise in the city. The Building later became a regional headquarters for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The thoughtful restoration and preservation of the Hickok Mansion by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency finished in July 2019 helps to maintain the legacy of Harrisburg's historic Front Street.
