1. Millstone Marker
Inscription.
This hand-cut granite millstone is from the tide-powered Friend's Mill. Before burning in 1889, the mill and dam stood on the Bass River, 200 yards south of this spot, where Elliott Street is today. The stone was recovered in 1903, during construction of the USM factory.
