5. Ponca City Memorial Fountain Restorations

The Centennial Plaza fountain was constructed in 1925 by the Ponca City chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in memory of the servicemen of World War I. In 1981, the fountain was restored by H. A. “Jack” Mertz and, again, by the Ponca City chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In the year 2003 this historic fountain was once again restored by Forrest Mertz, Mertz Inc., and the Mertz family in memory of his parents, H. A. “Jack” Mertz & Hattie Handley Mertz, the Ponca City chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and all veterans.
City, Oklahoma, in Kay County. It is on Grand Avenue East just east of South 5th Street, on the right when traveling east. The marker is located in front of the Centennial Plaza Fountain at Ponca City Hall. Touch for map.
