Regarding First Church of Christ, Scientist. The church building was designed in the Classical Revival-style of architecture by noted Chicago architect Solon Spencer Beman. The University of Pittsburgh acquired the building in the fall of 1992 for $1.015 million. Today, it houses the University of Pittsburgh Child Development Center. The First Church of Christ Scientist building was designated a Pittsburgh Historic Landmark in 1977.
