Built 1685-91 opposite the city palace by Count Philipp Reinhard of Hanau-Lichtenberg for government use. Architect: Johann Philipp Dreyeicher. Expanded after 1714. The coats of arms in alliance of the Count and his first wife Magdalena Claudina of Palatinate-Zweibrücken.

Description - The chancellery building was built between 1685 and 1691 according to plans by Johann Philipp Dreyeicher for Count Philipp Reinhard as the Hanau government building. The building initially served as a chancellery and archive, and from 1736 as the Hessian-Hanau post office. Today it houses the Hanau City Library and the Hanau City Archives.
