As Prohibition approached, Hot Springs thirty-one saloons prepared to close, and businessmen did not want their beer supply to go to waste. Coincidentally, a small circus was in town at the same time. Saloon owner Jack Goodine treated five elephants to tubs of beer on the sidewalk at 825 Central, creating quite a memorable scene.
