1. Stigall High School marker

Inscription. The Humboldt Colored School was established in 1896 with Mr. T.M. Stigall as Humboldt's first African American principal. As pupils increased, more teachers and rooms were added. T.M. Stigall passed before the school became an accredited two-year high school in 1916. Humboldt Colored School burned in 1928 and again in 1935. It was rebuilt to include a high school. In 1935 the name was changed to Stigall High School in honor of T.M. Stigall. Its first class graduated in 1937.
