1. Worth Hotel Marker
Inscription.  Proprietors Eula and Mary Mole and their family built and operated this hotel near the Katy and Frisco railroad tracks. Many guests were traveling salesmen, called "drummers" because they drummed up business for their employers. Limited space meant that a guest could not expect a private room; if the hotel was crowded, he might even have to share a bed with a stranger.

In addition to providing overnight accommodations to travelers, the hotel also offered meals (25 cents) in a long dining room extending from the back of the building. The hotel also offered packed lunches to railroad passengers, who wired their orders ahead.

Fun Fact
While other cities had laws to keep drummers away, Dallas welcomed travelling salesmen with a special "Drummers Day" at the State Fair of Texas.

Los propietarios Eula y María Mole y su familia construyeron y operaron este hotel, cerca del cruce de las lineas de ferrocarrill Katy y Frisco. Muchos de los huéspedes eran vendedores ambulantes, llamados bateristas o tamborileros, ya que tamborileaban negocio para sus patrones. El espacio limitado significaba que un huesped no tenia la certeza de obtener una habitación privada, si el hotel estaba lleno, quizas posiblemente hasta tendria que compartir la cama con un desconocido.

Además de proporcionar alojamiento de sobrenoche para los viajeros, el hotel ofrecia comidas (25 centavos) en una sala alargada que extiendia desde la parte de trasera del edificio. El hotel también ofrecia comida para llevar para los pasajeros del tren, los cuales cableaban sus pedidos de antemano.

Datos Curiosos
Mientras otras ciudades tenían leyes que prohibian la entrada a bateristas o tamborileros ambulantes, la ciudad de Dallas les daba la bienvenida a estos vendedores ambulantes con un dia especial "Día de los Bateristas o Tamborileros" en la Feria Estatal de Texas.
