The Freedom Run commemorates and honors all past and present military personnel, whether during peace or conflict, for their bravery, dedication and patriotism in keeping America free.

The Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run is an annual cross-state ride that began in 2003, and a different Freedom Run memorial, dedicated more specifically to veterans of conflicts in the Middle East, is about ⅓ of a mile north of here in Summit Park. At least three more Freedom Run memorials are known to exist in Illinois, one in Chicago, about 12 miles northeast of here in front of the Jesse Brown VA hospital in the Illinois Medical District, and two more downstate.
