1. 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Strasbourg Marker
Inscription. Cette exposition vous est présentée par la 2° brigade blindée et le gouverneur militaire de Strasbourg dans le cadre du 80e anniversaire de la Libération. Elle retrace l'histoire de la libération de Strasbourg par la 2e division blindée, le 23 novembre 1944. Verrou stratégique entre l'Allemagne et la France, la capitale alsacienne change plusieurs fois de subordination.

En 1871, elle est annexée par l'Empire allemand. Elle redevient française en 1918, lorsque l'armistice de la Première Guerre mondiale est ratifié. Le 1er septembre 1939, la Seconde Guerre mondiale éclate. Le 10 mai 1940, l'Allemagne nazie lance son offensive vers l'Ouest poursuivant sa stratégie du « Blitzkrieg ». Le 15 juin 1940, les troupes allemandes traversent le Rhin. Elles s'emparent de Strasbourg le 19 juin.

This exhibition is presented to you by the 2nd Armored Brigade and the Military Governor of Strasbourg as part of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation. It traces the history of the liberation of Strasbourg by the 2nd Armored Division on November 23, 1944. A strategic location between Germany and France, the Alsatian capital changed subordination several times. In 1871, it was annexed by the German Empire. It became French again in 1918, when the armistice of the First World War was ratified. In September 1939, the Second World

War broke out. On May 10, 1940, Nazi Germany launched its offensive towards the West, pursuing its "Blitzkrieg" strategy. On June 15, 1940, German troops crossed the Rhine. They seized Strasbourg on June 19.
