1. First National Bank marker

Inscription. First National Bank was constructed here as a frame building, then rebuilt as a two-story brick with mansard roof and glass front. Ed Laurent was the architect. It opened in 1885 with Horatio Clagett president and John T Walker cashier.

Centreville Hotel Corporation formed in June, 1883, and constructed a handsome 30 room brick building, also designed by Laurent, to the east of the bank. It opened in August 1884. E.A. Dean bought the property, and there were many name changes over the years.

M.M. West built Centre Theater between the bank and the hotel in 1946, operating until 1965.

In 1965 First National Bank bought the hotel and theater and replaced the bank with a modern 2 story building and parking lot. The bank building was incorporated into the new structure, but the other buildings were torn down.
