Inscription.
Old Hickory House Hotel Building. . Old Hickory House hotel was opened by A.H. Cunningham in February, 1882, on the west side of the square. An article from the Hickman Pioneer said, "Centreville can boast of one of the very best hotels in the state. The floors are newly carpeted and the walls are re-papered and re-painted. The parlor is quite handsomely furnished, while the bed chambers are neat and tidy. In the barroom can always be found a full line of cigars and tobaccos." The Primm House adjoined, with sleeping rooms and gentlemen's sitting rooms. The Primm stables provided accommodations for stock. Unfortunately, in May 1883, a fire destroyed the whole block of buildings on the west side of the square. It started in the kitchen of the Old Hickory House around midnight, and in less than half an hour the whole block of buildings was destroyed.
