Biemersderfer Center opened in 1895 as the first library building at a state normal school. The building housed the libraries of the Normal School as well as the Page and Normal Literary Societies, was staffed by two skilled librarians and was open several hours each day. Electricity was added in 1921. The building later served as a student union. Renovated in 1973, the Biemersderfer Center houses the president's and provost's offices.
