1. Markham Building Marker

Inscription.
Built by Clarence C. Markham in 1902. He sold watches and jewelry, fishing rods and guns on the ground floor, and son John W. succeeded him as a jeweler. Son Fred Sr. dispensed eyeglasses on the second floor. The only 3-story building in its vicinity, it made some Guilfordites wary of impending urbanization. It has an unusual stamped metal facade imitating stone.
