1. Haar House Marker
Inscription. Queen Anne style house built for Henry F. Haar (1865-1913), retail grocer; and wife, Sophie Fuchs (1873-1965). After Henry's death, Sophie married his brother, Jurgen Haar (1859-1931), retail grocer. They were all natives of Hannover, Germany. The house remained in the family until 1967.

Regarding Haar House. Jurgen Haar married his younger brother's widow in 1916. He also was a grocer, doing business on South Front Street. He served on the boards of several Wilmington companies, including American Bank & Trust, Tidewater Power Co., Southern National Bank, Atlantic Trust & Banking Co. and Consolidated Railways, Light and Power Co.
