Cette réplique du char d'assaut Saint-Chamond N°62470, baptisé Madelon, a été réalisée par l'association Mémoire de Poilus.
Le char Saint-Chamond est l'un des trois modeles de chars d'assaut produits par l'armée française durant la Grande Guerre. Le projet initial débute en 1916. En septembre, un prototype est présenté aux autorités militaires afin d'effectuer les premiers essais. Certains de ces engins sont engagés pour la première fois dans le secteur de Laffaux, le 5 mai 1917, lors de l'offensive du Chemin des Dames.
Le char numéro 62470, Madelon, est affecté au groupe d'artillerie d'assaut, AS 32. Il ne participe pas aux premiers combats de 1917. En juin 1918 il est engagé pour la première fois au feu, lors de la bataille du Matz. Il est détruit au cours de l'assaut du 12 juin en direction de Saint-Maur, incendié après avoir été atteint par plusieurs obus allemands.
The Saint-Chamond tank is one of three models of assault tanks produced by the French army during the Great War. The initial project began in 1916. In September, a prototype was presented to the military authorities in order to carry out the first tests. Some of these machines were engaged for the first time in the Laffaux sector on May 5, 1917, during the Chemin des Dames offensive.
Tank number 62470, Madelon, is assigned to the assault artillery group, AS 32. It did not participate in the first combats of 1917. In June 1918 it was engaged in combat for the first time, during the Battle of Matz. It was destroyed during the assault of June 12 towards Saint-Maur, set on fire after being hit by several German shells.
