Inscription. The Haynes Building housed a drug store in the early 1900's, then the Electric Maid Bakery. The Beasley Edwards Infirmary was upstairs, later becoming office space. In the 1920s, the post office moved to this building, remaining until the 1960's. The Men's Shop replaced the post office in 1961 and closed around 1990. Computer Access Center, Fluffo Mattresses, Polka Dot Boutique, Naturally You, and Holder Attorney at Law were later occupants. To the west of this building were two other buildings. A brick structure housed Goodman's Barber Shop and Cleaners. The upstairs was used as a gymnasium where the first indoor basketball in Centerville was played. Goodman's burned in 1927. A large brick structure on the corner was the home of Hickman County Bank, later Citizen's Bank and then Security Bank. It was torn down in 1930 when the highway was built.
