1. Remember When Gift Shop Marker
Inscription. This building, constructed around 1910, replaced a frame building where Goodman's Barber Shop was originally located. B.W. Edwards Grocery, the White Cafι, Owen Bates Grocery, and J.T. Tucker Grocery were also in this location in the early 1900s. Beasley Furniture Store, which shared the building next door to the east with Breece's Cafι, eventually expanded into this building. Beasley Furniture was originally called Adair Furniture and was located on the east side of the square, moving to the south side in 1946. John Cherry had a television repair business in the building also. Huddleston Insurance Agency moved into the building around 1984, later merging with the Clagett Agency. Jerry and Linda Bates purchased the building in 1995 and opened Remember When Gift Shop shortly afterwards.
