Inscription. In the late 1800's, T.M. Huddleston built a stone faηade building here that housed Beasley and Allen Merchandise. Huddleston & Edwards Grocery occupied the space in 1908 and later became O'Connor Grocery. The Southern Hotel was on the second floor with its entrance on the south side. Down Church Street behind the grocery store was George Leslie Grocery and Sam Nall Cobbler, a printing office and tin shop. After the fire of 1930, A.C. Bishop built the present building. In 1951, "T Doc" Baker moved his shoe repair shop behind 200 East Public Square. Christine's Quality Shop occupied this building in the 1960's, and in the 1970's it was the home of Ruth's Boutique, followed by Jean's Dress Shop. Trophy Case, Coble Realty, Floral Gallery and Muddy Duck Restaurant occupied the building before Lillie and Blanche opened in 2022.
