Otto Rienermann nutzte seine persönliche und familiäre Verwurzelung in Luxemburg zur Vermittlung von Kontakten zwischen führenden Persönlichkeiten beiderseits der Grenze. Die Einrichtung der Fähre (1966) zwischen Wasserbillig und Oberbillig sowie der Wiederaufbau der im Krieg zerstörten Sauerbrücke in Wasserbillig (1952/53) fielen in seine Amtszeit als Presse-, Kultur- und Wirtschaftsattaché an der deutschen Botschaft in Luxemburg.
