Sous-Secrétaire d'État à la Guerre, affecte sur sa demande a la mobilisation comme simple soldat au 44e R.I.T. a organise autour de Verdun une section d'éclaireurs volontaires dont il a pris la direction et dont il a été l'amé. Au cours de plus de cinquante patrouilles en terrain occupe par l'ennemi a donné l'exemple du plus admirable courage et a été médaille le g novembre 1914. Grièvement blessé le 9 novembre, a tenu toute la journée avec une poignée d'hommes et malgré ses blessures contre un ennemi très supérieur en nombre, auquel il a infligé de grandes pertes. Quatre citations-médaille militaire pour faits de guerres, deux blessures « citation conférée au sergent Maginot avec la Croix de Chevalier

Under-Secretary of State for War, assigned at his request to the mobilization as a simple soldier in the 44th R.I.T. organized around Verdun a section of volunteer scouts of which he took the direction and of which he was the friend. During more than fifty patrols in terrain occupied by the enemy gave the example of the most admirable courage and was awarded a medal on November 9, 1914. Seriously wounded on November 9, held out all day with a handful of men and despite his wounds against an enemy greatly superior in number, to whom he inflicted great losses. Four military medal citations for war deeds, two wounds "citation conferred on Sergeant Maginot with the Cross of Knight of the Legion of Honor"

C'est d’empêche l’invasion du territoire Nous savons quels désastres elle peut accumuler. Désastres tels que la victoire, elle-même n’arrive pas ensuite en compenser les irréparables dommages. Les organisations défensives des frontières dont nous voulons l'exécution n’ont pas d'autre but que de barrer la route à l'invasion. Toujours possible le beton vaut mieux. à cet égard et coute moins cher que le mur de poitrines.

Whatever the conception that one can have of a future war, there is a necessity that remains imperative. It is to prevent the invasion of the territory. We know what disasters it can accumulate. Disasters such that victory itself does not then manage to compensate for the irreparable damage. The defensive organizations of the borders that we want to be executed have no other goal than to block the road to invasion. Always concrete is better in this regard and costs less than the wall of breasts.
