Born on a farm in Rocky Branch, LA. Alton Hardy Howard served in WW II before making a home for his family in West Monroe. Though a successful business man, his passion for music followed him all of his days. He produced & managed the Steffins Sisters, whose gospel, bluegrass & country recordings included sessions with Nashvilles top musicians. He also produced a number of records with Ray Walker, a member of the Jordanaires & backup singer for Elvis, Alton founded Howard Publishing and wrote over 50 songs & hymns. He also compiled several hymnals that have sold over 3 million copies worldwide!
Alton served as an elder at WFR Church where he led singing for many years & founded several ministries, including Camp Ch-Yo-Ca, a place for children to play, sing & learn about God. An author of several best selling books, his passion for music & writing continues as family carries on his legacy. Altons granddaughter, Korie Howard Robertson, of the Duck Dynasty Family, has produced a hit Christmas album, movies & books. Altons great-granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, honors Altons memory with her books & songs of worship. Alton Howard will be remembered for his love of God, his people & the songs they sing.
