1. The Story of Stassi's 4th Ward Tavern Marker
Inscription. The history of 4th Ward Tavern goes back to the City of Marysville's first years. In 1861 when one of Marysville's several fire departments was built on this site. What happened to that building is unclear, but the current building was built in 1870 as a hotel for the Western Pacific railroad workers. It was a full functional hotel with 10 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bar. There was no running plumbing in the building until the 1900's. In 1904 for voting purpose it was known as Building 91 of the 4th Ward or the 4th Ward Tavern. Bob & Sam Stassi brought the business in 1952 and added the Stassi name. In 1991 sold the business to Roy Newlove. In May of 2014 local fireman Brad Hudson bought the business with the plan to honor the history of the building and the town.
