1. Florence High School Marker

Inscription. Designed by Phoenix architects Royal W. Lescher and John R. Kibbey and completed in 1916, this neo-classical revival style structure has overtones of the Spanish revival style. The school board chose a one story as the children would have already walked or ridden horseback several miles. The building's orientation helped keep the rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The original doors and windows under the arches in the front and back of the auditorium opened to create a cross breeze to cool the room. Students from Eloy, Picacho, Mammoth, Coolidge, and Red Rock attended school here. - Listed on the National Register of Historic Places-
