Regarding Riccardo Grazioli Lante de la Rovere. Gold Medal for Military Valor
*"On October 23rd, at Homs, after bravely completing a mission on the ground in enemy-fire zone, and disembarking a second time to gather information, he entrusted others with the task of bringing the information back on board. On his own initiative, he rushed to replace the commander of the landing battery who had been wounded.
He revived and inspired new courage in the men, exhausted by losses, fatigue, and hunger; he took care of gathering the severely damaged equipment, and, despite the darkness of the night and the continuous enemy fire, through the difficult terrain, he brought the battery back completely into the trenches.
On October 28th, also at Homs, setting an example of heroic resolve to his men, he commanded the landing battery of his ship, boldly exposing himself to enemy fire to direct the gunfire, until he was mortally wounded."*
