Guilford Center in South Central Region, Connecticut — The American Northeast (New England)
First National Store
1931
On this site stood the house of Nathaniel and Mary Griswold Landon (built c. 1806). In 1931, that building was demolished to make way for the First National Store, Economy Division. The new grocery, formerly housed in a small building nearby, was "a model...one of the finest in the system [with] every device for lighting, refrigeration, and ventilation."
