George Town, Cayman Islands, British Overseas Territories
Hon. Dr. Roy Edison McTaggart

Totally opposed to aligning with Jamaica, he canvassed the Cayman Islands and received more than 3,000 signatures in support of remaining with Britain.
A legislator representing George Town for more than 35 years, he helped bring free education to the Cayman Islands in 1931, introducing the Compulsory Free Education Bill. He was also the first chairman of the former Cayman Heritage Council.
A dentist by profession, he embarked on numerous entrepreneurial ventures and was the chairman of the Cayman Islands Shipping Company Ltd. that owned and operated the M.V. Cimboco, a vessel that was a lifeline for Caymanians during World War II.
