Mud Lane at the Crossroads at Hyde Park Corner
This pathway was originally the continuation of Mud Lane where it met the Messines Road at what was the crossroads at Hyde Park corner. The covering trees edging the path is where Lieutenant R. B. Talbot Kelly, 52nd Brigade, R. F. A. noted in his book A Subaltern's Odyssey wrote: "My section had a forward gun on the edge of the wood near Mud Lane. The pit lay in a verdant thicket of little willows and blackberry bushes. Ten yards away, a wooden cross marked the grave of Ronnie Poulton, prince of rugby players, ..."
Luitenant R.B.
