The term ANZAC is used to designate the wartime expeditionary force made up of Australian and New Zealand soldiers. ANZAC Day is commemorated annually on April 25 in memory of the soldiers of successive army corps who have fallen on the battlefield, this day is observed in both Australia and New Zealand. This date was chosen in memory of the first landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli in the Dardanelles Strait on April 25, 1915. Then, the ANZAC designated the entire expeditionary force which distinguished itself on the Western Front in France and Belgium, as well as in the Middle East.
