Blair Mill & Stevens Mill
(1789-1947)
| | Stallings, NC | |
In the late 1700s, William Blair built a grist mill at the upper end of Goose Creek. His holdings included 1,405 acres along both sides of the creek. In colonial days, the mill was near the old stagecoach line and was a community gathering place, a mustering ground for local militia, and a post office. The grounds also included a large antebellum home. The Blair family sold the mill in 1849 to Amos Stevens and the mill then became known as the Stevens Mill. The grist mill operated in this area for more than 100 years.
Erected by City of Stallings.
