1. Julius C. Wright Marker
Inscription. Julius C. Wright played a key role on Sixth St. from 1909 to his death circa 1942. His principle enterprise, Wright's Billiard & Pool Hall, at 402 E. Sixth St., served as the symbolic epicenter of black-run businesses concentrated in the 400 block. In 1920, with Hugh Warmoth, he co-founded "Wright & Warmoth Grocery,” at 422 E. Sixth St., and a confectionary – soon replaced by his real estate office at 424. A diminutive figure at 4'6", Wright was known as “a real natty dresser." Despite his role in the community, he was somewhat of a loner, perhaps from grief over the death of his first wife. He remarried Zula Boykins, but had no children.

Erected by Pecan Street Association.
