Stuart Nordquist was born in Minneapolis on January 16, 1944. His family moved to Hoffman, Minnesota at a very young age. Stuart graduated from Hoffman High School in 1962. He spent a year in Minneapolis before enrolling at the University of Minnesota-Morris in 1962. While at Minnesota-Morris, Stuart participated in four years of varsity football and served as team captain in his senior season.

Upon graduation from Minnesota-Morris, he moved to Adams, Minnesota, coaching football, basketball, and track and field while serving as athletic director. His football teams compiled a 43-17-2 record and two conference championships. In 1974, Stuart succeeded Frank “Butch” Larson at International Falls. Coach Nordquist has the longest tenure of any Bronco football coach at 34 years. His teams compiled a 232-116-0 record. Stuart guided the Broncos to 10 conference championships and eight section playoff titles. His teams appeared in 14 section finals and made eight state tournament appearances. The Broncos had a scoring streak of 131 consecutive games, from 1990-2003 during Stuart's tenure. His career 275 wins rank him in the top

Stuart Nordquist is a member of the Minnesota High School Football Association Hall of Fame, 2001; Minnesota State High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, 2008; and Bronco Athletic Hall of Fame, 2012. Coach Nordquist initiated the writing of Bronco sports history. Stuart has written the history of football, boys' basketball, boys' hockey and softball. He served the International Falls school district as a teacher, coach, administrator, and school board member. Stuart Nordquist lives in International Falls.

had a remarkable career coaching the International Falls High School football team. Nordquist amassed 275 wins and had a .673 all-time winning percentage in his 41-year career. He ranks 16th on the Minnesota Football Coaches Association all-time wins list and is a member of the MFCA Hall of Fame. And now his name is going to be on display at International Falls football games starting on Friday.

International Falls' football field is now named “Stuart Nordquist Field.” The first game on the newly-named field is on Friday as International Falls hosts Ely on Friday at 6 p.m. “It's quite an honor,” Nordquist said in an interview on Aug. 26, 2024.
