Inscription. The City of Charleston and the Daniel Island Company express their gratitude to The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, owner of Daniel Island from 1971 to 1997, for the vision and care with which the preliminary planning for the development of Daniel Island was conducted while under the Foundation's ownership.

The excellence of the community concept and the design philosophy established by the Foundation has guided the successful development of the island in a manner that looks to the future while remaining respectful of its traditional Charleston roots.
