The construction of hundreds of kilometres of narrow-gauge railway behind the front lines was a direct result of trench warfare. Such railways w[e]re essential for the transport of ammunition, troops, the wounded and millions of tons of building materials. In frequent use, this Decauville track and cart was made by a French manufacturer that enjoyed worldwide fame even before the war.

Smalsporen
De aanleg van honderden kilometers smalle spoorlijnen achter het front is een direct gevolg van de loopgravenoorlog. Ze zijn essentieel voor de aanvoer van munitie, manschappen, gewonden en miljoenen tonnen bouwmateriaal. Veelgebruikt is dit spoor en wagentje van de Franse fabrikant Decauville, die reeds voor de oorlog wereldwijde faam geniet.

Chemins de fer à voie étroite
La construction de centaines de kilomètres de chemins de fer à vole étroite derrière le front était le résultat direct de la guerre des tranchées. Ils étaient essentiels à l'approvisionnement de munitions, de troupes, de blessés et de millions de tonnes de matériaux de construction. Ce type de chemin de fer à voie étroite était couramment utilisé ainsi que ce wagonnet du constructeur français Decauville, qui jouissait déjà d'une renommée mondiale avant la guerre.

Schmalspur
Der Bau von Hunderten von Kilometern Schmalspurbahnen hinter der Front ist eine direkte Folge des Grabenkrieges. Sie sind unerlässlich für den Transport von Munition, Truppen, Verwundeten und Millionen Tonnen Baumaterial Gebräuchlich sind diese Gleise und Wägelchen des französischen Herstellers Decauville, der schon vor dem Krieg Weltruhm genießen.
