1. Millstadt Junction (0) Marker

Inscription. MP 0, also known as Millstadt Junction, is the starting point of the 8-mile branch line to Millstadt II. This branch line, completed in 1883, by the St. Louis & Cairo RR both provided passenger and freight service to Millstadt wtih stops at Krause (Columbia Quarry), Darmstadt (near the old Farmers Inn at Triple Lakes Rd.) and the Millstadt depot. The Millstadt depot still stands and is currently a food pantry. The GM&O sold this line to local businessmen in 1945 who renamed it the Columbia & Millstadt RR. It was adandoned and the tracks removed in 1961. Quarry Rd. was built on the former railbed.
