1. John Keating House Marker
Inscription. This single-story adobe, built in 1888, retains its basic integrity as an example of the symmetrical, pyramidal-roofed, Late-Transitional style. Keating was a pioneer stage driver. He served as a territorial legislator, Florence town councilman, and mayor of Florence. He wrote House Bill No. 149, appropriating funds to build the bridge across the Gila River, and was the owner of the Tunnel Saloon, site of the 1888 Gabriel-Phy shootout.
