Inscription. Why was it formed? The December 2019 National Defense Authorization Act created the Space Force as the sixth branch of the Armed Forces. It was established to protect our interests in space, deter aggression in, from, and to space, conduct space operations, and train military space professionals.

What will the Space Force be involved in?
• Control military spacelift (launch) operations and services.

• Command and control all of DOD satellites.

• Secure communication, weather and navigation data for ground, air and fleet operations and threat warning.

• Montior ballistic missile launches around the world to guard against a surprise missile attack on North American.

• Maintain space superiority to protect US space assets from hostile attack.
