Inscription. During World War II this building was constructed as a barracks at the Tonopah Army Air Field. Pilots and crew occupied buildings like this during their training to fly P-39 and B-24 aircraft. More than 7000 military personnel were stationed in Tonopah. After the war many structures were no longer needed and were made available to communities throughout the state. The Goodsprings Improvement Assn. obtained this former barracks and moved it 250 miles to this location in 1949.

The community made great use of their new facility. Town business meetings, potluck dinners, raffles, bingo, square dances, youth dances, quilting, Sunday School, birthday parties, and as a polling place for elections were just some of the ways it served our small town.

This building is part of our history and belongs to the people of Goodsprings.
