Odieusement chassés de leurs foyers par les allemands en septembre 1914 les habitants de Donai ébauchés dans la province dit Zonant ont fronvé à Mons et dans communes aboisinantes la plus généreuse hospitatite, dont ils ont boulu perpétuer le souvenir, en apposaut cette plaque, témoignage de leur vive reconnaissance.

Odiously driven from their homes by the Germans in September 1914, the inhabitants of Donai, located in the province known as Zonant, found the most generous hospitality in Mons and the surrounding villages, whose memory they wished to perpetuate by affixing this plaque, a testament to their deep gratitude.

This memorial, destroyed by the Germans on the September 22, 1942, was restored by the Village of Donai on the 31 August 1949
