1. Ludwig Lamp Marker
Inscription. This signal lamp was originally placed on the Nickel Plate RR in Ohio where, as a young USN veteran, John Ludwig worked as a fireman. John moved on to Florida where he raised his five children. After retiring from Bell South, John and his wife came to Monterey and became charter members of the Monterey Depot Historical Society. A cousin of John's discovered this discarded lamp and MDHS made arrangements to recover and restore it. The Ludwig Lamp proudly stands as a tribute to John Ludwig because of his many contributions to Monterey and the surrounding community.
