Huis ter Hart

From 1710 until the 19th century, Huis ter Hart was a 'courthouse': meeting place and courthouse of the former settlement Houtrijk en Polanen (now known as Halfweg). It was also an inn for travellers travelling by barge between Haarlem and Amsterdam.

3. Huis ter Hart
The building exterior has undergone at least 2 significant alterations since this postcard was published. It is situated on what was once Marktplein (Market Square), but the realignment of the rail line and the running of a four-lane road through that square leaves the building on a much truncated square that is now named Doktor Baumannplein.
