1. Holy Trinity Greek Community Marker
The first Greeks settled in Charlotte circa 1910. In 1923 the Greek Orthodox Parish of Charlotte was organized. The first services were held in a building on East Trade Street. In 1929 Westminster Presbyterian located on South Blvd was purchased, renovated and renamed Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. In 1951 this land was purchased from the J.A. Jones Estate. The Jones Mansion was used as the community center until 1967 when the current center was built. In 1954 the Cathedral was constructed and renovated in 2017. The parish founded with ~30 families and has grown to +1000 families.

Holy Trinity was established in 1923. At that time, the Charlotte Greeks(Submitted on March 22, 2025, by J.T. Lambrou of New Boston, Michigan.)were served intermittently by itinerant priests who performed liturgies and sacraments in rented civic halls and in Saint Peters Episcopal Church. Based on the memories of older parishioners, the first church services were at a building at the corner of 5th and North Tryon, on the 2nd floor, in the Chamber of Commerce auditorium on W. 4th St., and in a building on East Trade Street. The first church owned by the community was Westminster Presbyterian on South Boulevard. Early baptisms were held in homes using a washtub decorated with crepe paper. The current location of the Cathedral at 600 East Boulevard, occupying an entire city block, was purchased with the down payment made by the Marathon Chapter #2 Order of AHEPA.
