1. Liebermann’s Bakery Marker
Inscription. George Liebermann, a German immigrant, founded his bakery at 27 East Main Street (now Lincoln Way) in 1880. He purchased the present bakery site in 1890. Although the bakery had not yet been expanded to the west, the family lived in the building. The founder's nephew, also George, inherited the business in 1899. In addition to the retail bakery business, Liebermann's had a wholesale delivery route that took their Studebaker trucks to Crystal Springs, Canal Fulton, East Greenville, and Mount Eaton until World War II. The family living room, behind the main salesroom, was converted each summer into an ice cream parlor and confectionery until the Depression spawned wholesale dairy operations.
