Famous early American theologian lived, learned, worshipped in this area with Aunt Benton and Uncle Lot after mother died. Entered Yale at age 16, graduated 1797. Married Roxanne Foote of Guilford 1798. Father of Henry Ward Beecherpreacher, orator, and writer; and Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
