This commemorative plaque was unveiled in October 1998 by the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Mr. Rémy Trudel, in the presence of Brother Maurice Lapointe, Provincial of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, and Mr. André Gaulin, Member of Parliament for the riding of Taschereau.

Excerpt: French priest, educational reformer, and founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He is a saint of the Catholic Church and the patron saint for teachers of youth. He is referred to both as La Salle and as De La Salle. Excerpt: The De La Salle Brothers, officially named the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools is a Catholic lay religious congregation of pontifical right for men founded in France by Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, and now based in Rome, Italy. The De La Salle Brothers are also known as the Christian Brothers, French Christian Brothers, or Lasallian Brothers.
