Marine Corps Air Stations
Two air stations are located near Camp Lejeune: MCAS New River and MCAS Cherry Point. New River is the primary East Coast Marine Corps helicopter base for the MV-22 Osprey (the Corps' primary vertical assault aircraft), the CH-53E Super Stallion, AH-1Z Viper, and UH-1Y Venom squadrons and training. Cherry Point is home to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Headquarters, AV-8B Harrier II, KC-130 aerial tanker squadrons and training, and the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Support.
